Perdeberg supports the David Frost Signature Series Wines Golf Initiative

David Frost, well known PGA Golf Tour Player, has launched a range of signature series wines that not only appeal to golfers but also supports the development of golf itself. For every bottle of David Frost Wines sold, a R1 donation is given to the Raymond Ackerman Golf Academy and amount of R 40 309.00 was recently raised and handed over to Mr. Mervyn Cusens to aid in their cause.

The David Frost Wine Farm is situated in the Agter-Paarl region of the Western Cape close to us at Perdeberg Winery which is why we support him in this initiative.

 

The Raymond Ackerman Golf Academy offers an outreach programme that not only provides golf training, but also assists young golfers in their academics. It offers support to supplement school studies, mentorship and golf tuition to produce talented young golfers. Membership typically runs from school grades 6, 7 or 8 up to the achievement of matriculation exams.

 

The Raymond Ackerman Golf Academy aims for their students to achieve academic success; mature into respected young adults; and to become competent and enthusiastic golfers.

David Frost and his family have been in the wine business in South Africa for over 60 years!  Whilst winning over 22 tournaments worldwide and recording the PGA Tour’s lowest putting total ever, David’s passion for wine was never far from his heart. His father’s vineyard was the first place where David’s passion for wine and golf started.

 

“With the pocket money I made from picking grapes, I was able to fund my first set of golf clubs and an ongoing supply of balls” says David, “then in 1994, I was able to buy my own vineyard.”

 

David Frost recently re-launched his Signature Series wine with a new look label. The brand was given a face lift by Somerset West based Wanted Design, specialising in wine labels, to better portray the brand ethics. A small gold sticker was also added to the pack to communicate that for every bottle sold, R1 is donated to the Raymond Ackerman Golf Academy.
